i don't know how long thomas was unconscious for after the fall of the last city, but it looked like a decent amount of time. that said, i can't stop thinking about how long minho held on to newt's necklace. also how much he knew about it.

did he see it on newt? did he know it was the last they had of newt?

how many nights did he stay up fiddling with it– thinking about newt, mourning alone?

how did it feel handing it off to thomas?

how did it feel inevitably finding newt's last words inside of it knowing he'd held onto it for so long without knowing?

The most tragic thing about the "Minho new Newt longer" thing is that actually. They all new eachother for a long ass time. Like yeah, Newt and Minho knew eachother like a year or two in like fever code before they met like Thomas, Teresa (DeeDee), and Chuck. BUT. They all were well acquainted friends who genuinely cared a lot about eachother. AND there bonds go deeper than they realise. And it always makes me sad everytime.

Also fever code Thomas and Newt were like so close. Which makes it evermore tragic is that they BOTH never know this shit ugh fuck me. I mean I think Newt gets a few memories back in crank palace, but idk a lot about that cause I haven't read it.

Damn. Now I have to ramble about my fever code and fever code/the maze runner opinions one of this days. Fever code fucked me up. MORE THAN DEATH CURE AND IT'S FUCKING LESS DEATH.

Does anyone really talk about how different "Please Tommy, please" is in the movies than in the books?

In the movies, "Please Tommy, please" is Newt's beg for Thomas to take the necklace that had his note inside of it. Basically begging Thomas to take his last words, something to remember him by.

But in the books...

"Please Tommy, please" is a cry for mercy. A plead for Thomas to not let Newt fall into insanity. To end his suffering before he became a Crank past the Gone. He even wrote the "Kill me. If you've ever been my friend, kill me" note. He's been begging Thomas to kill him since the beginning of TDC.

It just hits differently in the books, man 😭

You know that scene right after Newt's death when Thomas picks up the gun from the floor? When I was sitting in the theatre, I held my breath for a moment, thinking this was the inevitable conclusion to their story. Even now, every time I watch the film, that moment plays in my head. I can’t help it ... and now I'm bringing it to you as well :)

Idk what I was thinking drawing this because Newt’s death in the book is NOT in the city and also like he’s not wearing the freaking WICKED uniform. Anyways this has been something I’ve wanted to draw since reading the books for the first time! And now I did it so we can all suffer together.
